Yahoo popularity surge on the iPad
Tablet's launch in other countries boost Yahoo's numbers
The amount of hits on Yahoo that come from iPad users have risen sevenfold since the tablet was released a few months ago. The online company did not release exact numbers, but says that the figures make their Web site more popular on the tablet than on any other device.
The numbers may have been boosted by the fact that the iPad was only available in the US when it was first released. The tablet's launch in other territories plays into Yahoo's strong international presence, thereby ensuring growth for the once-formidable online company.
Yahoo says that the most growth was seen on its "Group" sites, which had viewership increase by 28% in the last few months. Yahoo Shopping and Yahoo Travel, on the other hand, have grown at similar rates. The most popular Yahoo properties viewed on the iPad used to be Flickr, and Yahoo's sports/finance/news content.
