CD Projekt Red has released a few improvements for “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt” on the Xbox One X, including 4K mode and performance mode. Owners of the Microsoft console now have the freedom to choose which graphical setting suits their need.

For starters, 4K mode allows the game to run at 4K resolution yet capped at 30 frames per second (fps). Non-4K displays may utilise the setting to achieve supersampled effects. Performance mode, on the other hand, has dynamic resolution scaling enabled (from 1080p to 4K) and at the same time targets 60 fps. Both settings, according to the official blog post, supports HDR.

Players only need to download the patch for the Xbox One X to activate the upgrades. File size is around 550 MB. Once downloaded, an Advanced option will appear in the game’s display menu. Simply adjusting the slider between “4K Mode” and “Performance Mode” will change the setting.

Other changes include “enhanced shadows, ambient occlusion and texture filtering,” perfect for gamers who prefer graphical beauty above framerate. The blog post also reminds players that HDR support is also coming for the PlayStation 4 Pro.

“The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt” is an open-world role-playing game that continues the story of Geralt of Rivia, a kind of monster hunter referred to as a Witcher. In this third outing, he is on a quest to find Ciri, his adopted daughter, before mysterious foes known as the Wild Hunt gets her first.

The game has been critically acclaimed upon release in 2015. In fact, it won Best RPG and Game of the Year in the second The Game Awards. “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt” is available on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
