United States Infrastructure threatened by Cyber attacks
Last Monday, the General Accountability Office reported that the fact that both the private and public sector are not helping in the preventing of potential cyber attacks on the infrastructure of the United States. This poses a huge threat in the infrastructure sectors like energy, banking, finance and information technology. Moreover, the GAO stated that it should be imperative for the public and private sectors to form coalitions with each other to be able to prevent cyber attacks from dangerous people like terrorists and criminals. Antagonistic nations are also consider threats to US infrastructures for they can also be susceptible to performing cyber attacks that could be potentially dangerous to many aspects of US infrastructures.
The apparent inability to protect infrastructures that are reliant to the web may result from the lack of improvements of the expectations in the public and private sector. Information on how to protect the infrastructures is a very crucial thing to the state and its people and the two sectors should be able to realize this.
The lack of cooperation between the public and private sector when sharing vital information could lead to many devastating effects especially on the US infrastructures. It seems that the two sectors are not keen about the idea of collaborating with one another when they are supposed to give out information on how to solve this problem.
Processes that are futile should be avoided by the private and public sectors should be avoided by them so they can make the protection of the US infrastructures possible and within the reach of people who need them.
The White House Cyber Coordinator and the Homeland Security Security must collaborate with the public and private sectors in order to make amends that can lead to the improvements of sharing and protection of information.
