Twitter may offer more followers for a fee
Users can have accounts promoted on the Web site
Twitter, the microblogging site, is said to be looking into a promotional offering that allows users to purchase additional followers. Twitter is said to be considering a scheme where users can have their accounts promoted on the Web site for a fee.
As of now, the details of the service are yet to be released. It is unclear whether people who take advantage of the scheme would be charged on a per follower basis or on a base rate.
The offering is said to only be on the discussion stages. Nonetheless, the microblogging site is keeping mum on whether the scheme exists or not.
Twitter has traditionally been reluctant to introduce artificial ways to boost follower counts. However, there are already several companies that offer such a service. With Twitter in need of more ways to make cash, the Web site may be rethinking its values.
