Chinese clubs are set to raid two English Premier League clubs for their latest signings in the winter transfer window.

Chelsea captain John Terry and Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata could be the Chinese Super League’s next signings as both players are reportedly inclined in joining the growing list of top-talented players in the Far East.

Earlier this month, Terry revealed that he could end his career with Chelsea once the season ends after the Blues decided not to renew his one-year contract extension last year. Ever since announcing his future uncertainty with Chelsea, several clubs have shown interest to the 35-year-old defender, including CSL clubs Guangzhou Evergrande. But according to Paul Hetherington of the Daily Star, Terry could join his former England boss Sven Goran Eriksson in Shanghai SIPG.

“Last summer, he made a one-man tour of China in what is being seen as a smart PR exercise,” Hetherington wrote. “His former England boss, Sven Goran Eriksson, would be keen on a reunion in Shanghai.”

Meanwhile, Mata could also follow the likes of Ramires and Jackson Martinez to China, with CSL clubs interested to sign the Spanish international.

Mata, who moved from Chelsea to Stamford Bridge in a £37 million transfer two years ago, was linked to a move back to Spain with Atletico Madrid this summer. However, the Spanish club struggled to come up with his asking price of £170,000-a-week wages, reports Neil Moxley in the Sunday People as reported by the Mirror.

The report added that Mata, who has four goals in 26 Premier League games this season, is unlikely to get an extension on his two-year contract with the Red Devils, making a move to China more plausible.

“Juan was happy to return to Spain but now the Chinese have shown their hands, the money is very difficult to turn down,” a source told the Mirror’s Sunday People Sports.
