After recalling 41,000 laptops worldwide due to a fire risk, Toshiba denies receiving any reports of overheating laptops in Australia.

In a statement, Toshiba Australia said that consumers in the country had filed no complaints of overheating on the AC adaptor plug of the Satellite T130 notebook.

"The US, Canada and European markets have experienced a limited number of incidents regarding the issue which have been addressed swiftly with a BIOS download from their local country websites... The update will determine if there is a potential issue and if so, immediately disable external power of the product, preventing it from overheating," the company said.

A report from the US Consumer Product Safety Commission says that the notebook computer poses a burn hazard to users because it can overheat at the plug-in to the AC adapter.

The company said that demand for the Toshiba notebooks continue to be strong. Toshiba said that, later this year, it expects to reach its 100 million shipments of notebooks worldwide.
