A Texas couple were kicked out of a restaurant in Dallas for wearing a mask to protect their immunocompromised 4-month-old son.

On Sept. 10, Natalie Wester and her husband Jose Lopez-Guerrero were awaiting their appetizer when they were asked to leave Hang Time Sports Grill & Bar in Rowlett. The server asked them to take their masks off or leave, according to reports.

"We are new parents and in the middle of a pandemic, we don't really get out a whole lot," Wester told CNN. "But that Friday night, my mom happened to be available to watch our son. Living in a pandemic, being isolated and away from others is a big deal for our mental and social health."

The owner of the establishment, Tom Blackner, told the Post that there is a mask ban at his restaurants and the hostess is expected to tell all the customers to take their masks off before they walk in.

“I have spent my money on the business, my blood sweat and tears in this business, and I don’t want masks in here,” Blackmer told a local CBS affiliate.

Wester said they were not aware of the policy and thought the waitress was asking for them to take off their masks to verify their picture on their IDs.

CNN noted that Wester and her fiance took their starters to go and got dinner at a local fast-food restaurant instead.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends all Americans wear masks in indoor public areas regardless of their vaccination status in order to ease the spread of the highly contagious and deadly Delta variant.

Texas is currently one of the states leading in COVID-19 cases, with over 12 thousand new cases as of Sept. 20.
