Terabyte plans from iiNet
Plans to include phone and internet services
IiNet, an ISP based in Perth, announces plans to offer up to one Terabyte of broadband data per month to customers. The plans will include phone and internet services in one bundle.
Residential customers may be able to download up to 500GB during "peak times" and another 500GB between 1am and 9am starting Friday. The schemes cost $99.95 for bundled ADSL 2+ or $119.95 on bundled ADSL 1.
The plan sees a quota increase of about five times that of iiNet's previous largest ADSL2+ plan, which offered 100GB peak and 100GB off-peak for $129.95 per month.
The new pricing scheme would cut iiNet's bundled ADSL2+ offerings from seven options to four. The prices of the plans range from $29.95 for a total quota of 20GB to $99.95 per month.
The company would also start offering "simplified" broadband plans. Instead of the company's current seven Naked Business DSL "anytime quota" offerings, iiNet has introduced three new plans. The offerings have a price that ranges from $89.95 for 50GB+50GB on- and off- peak data to $149.95 for 300GB+300GB.
Michael Malone, CEO of iiNet, said that his company aims to make its plans more simple to meet Australians' "increasing appetite for fast broadband and online content".
But "this isn't about big plans - it's about sustainable plans," Malone said.
"iiNet is moving Australian broadband forward... We've built a high performance network over the past five years, including great long term deals with our suppliers."
"We have oodles of bandwidth and it's about time we used it."
The company's one-Terabyte announcement comes two days after it announced its 2010 annual results two days. The Terabyte offerings also follow the company's announcement of its acquisition plans for AAPT's consumer business. The possible purchase, which may be worth $60 million, would see the company take over 113,000 DSL customers.
