Telstra to release tablet device
T Touch Tab will be based on Google Android
Telstra has flagged plans to release a tablet device based on Google Android to compete against devices from Apple, Dell and Samsung.
The company, which is Australia's biggest telco, has put up a "T Touch Tab" page on its Web site that allows users to register to receive information about a tablet that has a similar size as that of the Dell Streak.
Telstra said that the new gadget would come out in November.
According to the Web site, the tablet will be available exclusively through Telstra's Next G network. The set-up for the T-Touch Tab will be similar to the company's offering for its range of 'T'-branded devices like the T-Hub telephony system and the T-Box Internet video.
Telstra's offering will launch the company into the middle of a hotly-contested tablet market in Australia. Dell's Streak was earlier launched through Optus. Samsung's Galaxy Tab, on the other hand, will be released in November through all major carriers.
