Right on the heels of GOG, Steam has finally begun its Winter Sale, offering deals and discounts on a huge selection of games. The sale runs from today until January 4, 2018.

Gamers have more or less two weeks to get their hands on thousands of discounted titles. There’s plenty to browse through, but some notable sales will most likely be displayed on Steam’s front page.

For starters, “Tekken 7” is on sale for US$24.99 (AU$32.56); that’s a 50% discount. “Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice,” one of the best indie games of the year, received a 25% off discount and now costs US$22.49 (AU$29.30).

Rakuen,” a heartwarming 2D indie game that made it on our list of the best undiscovered games, is now more affordable for only US$6.49 (AU$8.46). Also, don’t miss out on “Prey,” its price slashed in half to make it US$19.97 (AU$26.02).

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) has only left Early Access status, and its version 1.0 is now available on Steam without a discount. With or without the new version, there’s high probability that PUBG would still not have a discount anyway, judging by recent Steam sales.

The Steam Winter Sale is also host to the much-awaited return of the Steam Awards. Gamers are able to vote for the titles they deem fit for their respective categories. But you won’t find the usual Game of the Year awards here. You’d be able to vote for only one category per day until the end of the sale.

As of this writing, you may cast your vote for Choices Matter, which consists of games that present the gamer with choices that ultimately affect the storyline or gameplay. Nominees are “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt,” “The Walking Dead: A New Frontier” and more.
