“Star Trek: Into Darkness” actress Alive Eve, in her bid to promote women equality rights, dissed Bruce Jenner for reportedly “playing at being a woman.” She said if Bruce is a woman, being an Olympic superstar would have been impossible, as it is impossible for other women.

Alive Eve caught the ire of many when she used Jenner to rally for women’s rights. Her exact statement on her Instagram that Bruce Jenner is “playing at being a woman,” caused many to turn against her. She blasted Kendall and Kylie Jenner’s father for identifying as a woman and yet enjoying the societal benefits of being a man. She used Jenner’s win in the 1976 Olympic Games as the prime example. “If you were a woman no one would have heard of you because woman can’t compete in the decathlon,” she wrote on Monday, pertaining to Kris Jenner’s ex-husband's gold medal victory at the 1976 Olympic Games. Instead, Jenner would just end up being a “frustrated young athlete” because then, the reality star would not have the chance to complete. “Until women are paid the same as men, then playing at being a ‘woman’ while retaining the benefits of a man is unfair,” she added. She also said Jenner should only be identified as a woman if he has a vagina and would be paid less than the male population in general.

Alice Eve backtracked on her strong statements after Jenner supporters and transgender activists criticised her language. Some called her out for implying that women’s rights are above that of the rights of the transgender population.

The actress said that she is not saying Jennner’s transition or transponders in general are affecting feminism movement negatively. Instead, she hopes to see a refinement of the language being used on the topic so that “all men, women and transponders” would have accurate representation when it comes to their process of self-identifcation. She also thanked her bashers for enlightening her, stating that she herself felt confused over the sensitive topic. She also issued an apology, stating that her main intention was to highlight gender equality for all. She also deleted her original posts where she dissed Jenner.
