Sony, the consumer electronics giant, launches its new home cinema surround sound system that delivers 3D pass-through on HDMI inputs in addition to a 3D Blu-ray player.

The new model, the BDV-470SS, combines the new BDP-S470 Blu-ray player - which has 3D playback and IPTV support - with the latest HT-AS5 surround sound system, which is said to be capable of delivering 1000-watts of audio power.

The sound system has auto calibration, which helps to get channel balance right the first time. In addition, it also includes a FM/AM receiver. All of the electronics are hidden from plain view inside the sub-woofer. With this, only the four compact speakers are on show.

In addition, Sony also launches the new HT-AF5. The surround sound system contains the same basic audio hardware, only it has two tower front speaker that can be wall-mounted or set on floor stands.

The Blu-ray player is now available in most regions. The HT-AS5 and AF5 surround sound systems, meanwhile, have already been released in Europe.
