Sony Launches New Blu-ray Models
Electronics giant comes out with new line of Blu-ray players
Sony, the consumer electronics giant, launched its latest line of Blu-ray players. The latest Blu-ray range includes a new model with capabilities such as Sony's Bravia Internet Video IPTV, USB video playback and 3D Blu-ray movie playback for $299.
The BDP-S470, one of the new models, isn't the cheapest in the line. However, it is the cheapest one that supports 3D playback.
The cheapest player is the new BDP-S370. The model is already on sale at JB HiFi and Dick Smith. The retail price for the BDP-S370 is $229 but big retailers have started selling it at a discounted price of $199.
The BDP-S370 has a slew of features including Bravia Internet Video (IPTV), DLNA streaming and USB video playback with the use of a USB flash drive or hard drive.
The BDP-S470 is similar to the BDP-S370. The only difference is, the BDP-S470 has the 3D Blu-ray playback feature. The model goes for $299. The BDP-S570, on the other hand, has built-in Wi-Fi. However, the extra capability pushes the price up to $379. If Wi-Fi is not an absolute necessity, the BDP-S470 seems like an impressive bargain.
Each model comes complete with a remote. However, Apple iPhone or iPod Touch owners can use their phones as a spare controller. The free Blu-ray remote app can be downloaded from the Apple AppStore.
The BDP-S370 and BDP-S470 models are already available in retail outlets. Meanwhile, the S570 will be released later this month.
