Sergio Aguero, Manchester City striker, was banned for four matches by the Football Association following his red card against Chelsea on Saturday. Aguero had a knee-high challenge on Luiz which led to a bench-clearing melee at the Etihad Stadium. He was given a red card for a dangerous two-footed foul on Luiz, Chelsea’s defender.

This is the second time that Aguero has been punished this season. He was also banned for elbowing Winston Reid in August during a game against West Ham. The Football Association found him guilty of violent conduct after he clashed with Reid in the 3-1 win at the Etihad on Aug. 28. He caught Reid in the neck with his elbow. After which, the New Zealand national football team was treated on the pitch before he was substituted. This means that the Football Association has increased the usual three-game suspension to four. On the FA website, they released a statement saying that Sergio Aguero will serve a three-match suspension with immediate effect after an FA charge of violent conduct against him was found proven.

The Argentina striker will miss City's matches with Leicester, Watford, Arsenal and Hull this month. The next game that he might be able to play in will be the New Year’s Eve fixture against fellow title contenders Liverpool at Anfield. He will be a great loss to the teams following games. Aguero has scored ten points all in all in the games that he was able to play.

After this suspension, there are reports from the team that Kelechi Iheanacho will replace Aguero. He is the only other striker in the squad.

Chelsea won the game 3-1 for an eighth successive victory.

Aguero has not given any words to the public about what happened. Reporters have been trying to get him to give comments about the incident so that the public will know his side of the story.
