Samsung's new Fascinate smartphone will be sold online starting Wednesday for $199.99 after rebate and will be available on Verizon Wireless stores by Thursday.

The Thursday sales date has been expected for the Galaxy S-class handset for some time. Verizon is the fourth telecommunications carrier in the US tapped to put the Galaxy S smartphones on sale.

The smartphone has features such as a 4-inch AMOLED displays and 1GHz Cortex A8 Hummingbird processors. Due to a global shortage of displays, Sprint had held off on selling its version of the smartphone called the Epic, which went on sale on August 31. Verizon has not released any announcements regarding supply constraints for the Fascinate phones.

The handset is based on Android 2.1. All carriers of the Galaxy S phone have promised to update the OS to version 2.2 later this year.

According to Verizon, the smartphone will be sold alongside a $29.99 charging cradle that also functions as a micro USB wall adapter and a desktop speakerphone. The handset can also go with a $39.99 car dock that allows turn-by-turn GPS navigation.

Verizon has yet to announce any official specifications for the device. However, according to the Samsung Web site, the Fascinate comes with 16GB of memory that is expandable to 32GB. The handset also has a 5-megapixel camera that allows for recording HD quality video.
