South Africa will look to top Pool B of the 2015 Rugby World Cup when they face USA on Wednesday at the Olympic Stadium.

South Africa have made two changes to the team’s starting XV that defeated Scotland in their RWC fixture last week. Coach Heyneke Meyer inserted Frans Malherbe at tight-head prop in place of Jannie Du Plessis, while Lwazi Mvovo will come in at 11. Two is the fewest changes the Springboks have maded between successive RWC matches since making no changes at all between their 2007 semifinal and final appearances, which won them the Webb Ellis Cup.

Meyer believes every game for the Springboks in the quadrennial rugby tournament is a World Cup final, hence sticking with 13 of the very strong starting lineup that beat the Scots for the physical challenge of the USA Eagles. Meyer said his side does not look past the game against USA, recognising the Springboks will win their pool with a bonus point victory come game time.

“You have to stay humble and respect every single opponent,” Meyer said, repots World Rugby . “Because it’s a short turnaround (from the Scotland game), there’s not much time to train and prepare, so why not go with some sort of continuity but also with some fresh guys on the bench.”

Meanwhile, USA is expected to go all out as well against South Africa despite resting 12 players to convert a good RWC result against Japan in their final fixture. Coach Mike Tolkin has only retained Phil Thiel, Samu Manoa, and Blaine Scully in the starting XV that lost to Scotland in Leeds.

Tolkin believes USA have been inconsistent all throughout the tournament, but admitted the Eagles also had some flashes of some “very good play” both on offence and defense.

"There's not a game we go into where we think we can't win," Tolkin told ESPN . "Perhaps if we did the things that we set out to do early in the week against Scotland, to come out in the second half, maybe the momentum changes for us.”

The Springboks regained the top spot in Pool B after a decisive 34-16 win against Scotland last week, putting them a point ahead of the Scots. USA, on the other hand, remains winless at the bottom of the group standings after suffering a 39-16 defeat against Scotland.
