Social networking site Facebook just got better as video chat service 6Rounds launches a Facebbok application.

Now plainly called Rounds, the said video chat service will allow Facebook users to start a video conversation with friends without the hassle of downloading any extra software or browser plug-ins. Rounds is actually a free website that lets you enter "rounds", or a video and text chat-based connection.

Aside from chatting, Rounds also allows its users to play a variety of games with each other. To make conversations more appealing, video effects can also be added. Rounds also includes the built-in co-browsing technology. This is similar to the Google Maps and YouTube viewers.

Rounds developed a feature specific to Facebook. This particular feature lets Facebook users to co-browse Facebook profiles. Facebook users participating in a video chat round do not need to be logged in at the same time or be friends with the person being browsed. They can look at the other person's profile and photos as well while they are within the Rounds interface. Users can also utilize the application to take photo stills from their video streams and post these photos to their Facebook walls. Once a Facebook user installs Rounds and the application loads, a ToxBox will be seen below next to the names of the users currently using chat.

Rounds was released in 2009 as Google Wave's only video chat extension. Rounds was initially focused on speed dating. The platform used the Six Degrees of Separation concept. This concept tackles the idea that no one is more than six steps away from any other person on Earth. The video chat was meant to include six guys and six girls meeting each other one after the other thus, the initial moniker 6Rounds.

Currently, rounds is only available for Firefox.
