World No. 3 Roger Federer will look to add another title to his unforgettable 2017 season Sunday when he meets budding German star Alexander Zverev in the final of Rogers Cup in Montreal, Canada. Should he win his third Coupe Rogers championship, the Swiss Master will secure a Top-2 seed at the 2017 US Open.

Federer would also tie Ivan Lendl's record of 94 ATP World Tour titles on the all-time list in the Open Era. Only American Jimmy Connors owns more titles with 109. Federer and Rafael Nadal, having dominated the season, will renew their rivalry next week at the Cincinnati Masters as the race for the World No. 1 ranking heats up. With Andy Murray yet to recover from his hip injury, the 30-year-old Scot is likely to relinquish his World No. 1 ranking to either Nadal or Federer at Cincinnati -- the final stop before Flushing Meadows.

Zverev, on a nine-match winning streak, should fancy his chances Sunday despite Federer's impeccable 35-2 record (5-0 in finals) this season. Federer is on a 16-match undefeated streak that dates back to the Rogers Cup, in the lead-up to Wimbledon. The 20-year-old Zverev had no answer for Federer when he met his childhood idol in the finals at Halle on Jun. 25. Federer put away the #NextGenATP star in 53 minutes.

The 20-year-old Zverev is the youngest Coupe Rogers finalist since Novak Djokovic won the Canadian Open in 2007. The fourth seed is fresh off a hard-fought victory over Canadian teenager Denis Shapovalov in the semi-final. Shapovalov had stunned Juan Martin del Potro and top seed Rafael Nadal in the lead-up to his loss to Zverev.

"I told him (Shapovalov) he had a great run, well done to him, to not worry too much that he lost today. I also told him that this is just the first match of very, very many that we will play against him. Hopefully a lot of other big matches, maybe in Grand Slams, maybe in finals of tournaments. I just told him that this is the beginning for him," Zverev said of his fellow #NextGenATP peer.

Federer beat Dutchman Robin Haase 6-3 7-6 (7-5) in his semi-final. "I'm happy - most happy that I'm actually really healthy going into the finals. I haven't wasted too much energy. I've been able to keep points short. I've been really clean at net. I think my concentration and just my playing has gone up a notch. I'm just playing better."
