The Quarterly Child Care Rebate payments from July to September 2015 will be released soon for millions of eligible families.

The Department of Human Services will deliver the payments for the quarter to cover the needs of approximately 275,000 families who could not afford child care fees. General Manager Hank Jongen from the department has confirmed that the rebate payments for the July-September quarter will be generated automatically from Oct. 21.

“Eligible families who have elected to receive the Child Care Rebate payment quarterly don’t need to do anything, as the rebate will be automatically paid into their bank account,” Jongen said. “Child Care Rebate delivers extra help for eligible families with the cost of approved child care – reimbursing parents up to 50 percent of their out-of-pocket expenses, up to $7,500 per child, per year.”

Jongen also mentioned that, under this scheme, every family has been given the right to choose the frequency of their payments at the beginning of each financial year. He says family life can be complex, and hence it is important to provide certain options to families to help them manage their family budget properly.

The general manager also specified that the scheme does not only offer quarterly payment options, but also provides fortnightly and even weekly payment options for the families. The families can decide which alternative they want based on their situations.

The department has an active website which families can visit and have a look at their childcare attendance. They can also apply for other payment schemes.

“If families have not received their quarterly Child Care Rebate payment by Friday 6 November, I encourage them to check their myGov account or log in to the Express Plus Centrelink mobile app to see if it has been issued,” Jongen announced.
