The $1,399 HDC-SDT750 camcorder will now let people record their precious moments in 3D, Makoto Nagura, director of Panasonic's video camera business unit, said during the 50th edition of the IFA consumer electronics and appliances trade show in Berlin, Germany.

Nagura said the new product will complete the cast of Panasonic 3D equipment. The firm already produces 3D eyewear, TVs, theaters and Blu-ray drive players.

A separate press event launched the product at the U.S. Open in Flushing Meadows, New York City on Wednesday. Matches will be shot using the portable HDC-SDT750 and larger Panasonic equipment mounted on rigs created in partnership with Bexel.

The 3D camcorder is a combination of a regular 1080p video camera and an optional 3D lens with dual views for the left and right eye. It can shoot in 3D, 2D or a combination of the two. Filmed videos can be stored and shown in an HDMI, SD card or USB.

The 3D camcorder weighs less than a pound.
