After being released initially in Japan, the dual-screen laptop Libretto is now available in the United States. The Libretto W105 is a dual-screen laptop that runs on Windows 7. It resembles a clam shell, and has two capacitive LCD screens, with one screen reserved purely for viewing while the other is for typing. The typing screen is identical to the Ipad's virtual keyboard.

The two tablets can both be used both for viewing, when required.

Interested parties can purchase the W105 via the website ToshibaDirect.com. On August 29, Sunday, it will be available for buying in retail stores. According to the company, the W105 comes in at an SRP of $1,099.99.

The Libretto tablet is referred to as W100 in Japan, while the United States version is called the W105.

However, the Libretto W100 which was sold in Japan is a little different from the one that will be sold in the United States, according the the Toshiba spokesman. The one in the US will include only one battery that makes it heavier than the 1.5 pound W100 in Japan. The W105 units which will be sold in the US weigh in at 1.8 pounds. The reason for this is that the W100 sold in Japan comes with two batteries. One battery has a smaller capacity, while the other is a large eight-cell battery.

Moreover, the US model does not have Wimax wireless broadband capabilities as well.

Specifications of Toshiba's W105 Libretto include a Windows 7 Home Premium operating system, Intel Pentium U5400 dual-core processor, 2GB DDR 800MHz memory, 62 gigabyte Solid-State Drive also known as the SATA, both webcam and microphone built into the LCD screen, Bluetooth V2.1, and multi-touch LED screens. Both the screens are seven inches in size.
