With the PS4, Xbox One and PC release of “Mortal Kombat X” just around the corner, NetherRealm has taken the wraps off a suite of brand new trailers detailing the game’s Faction Wars mode. The new Factions mode brings team-based combat, offering players a choice between the White Lotus, the Black Dragon, Special Forces, the Brotherhood of Shadow and the Lin Kuei.

The brief Factions mode introduction trailer, hosted on the official ”Mortal Kombat” Community YouTube page, challenges players to sign up for one of the five factions and engage in combat against other players from around the globe. The trailer promises persistent online battles, allowing gamers to play online, win and contribute points to their faction. Once the war is over, the faction with the highest score is given the title of Faction Champion and all members earn rewards for their efforts.

The “MK” Community channel has also released a trio of trailers for three of the five factions: the White Lotus, the Black Dragon and the Special Forces. The White Lotus faction trailer introduces the secret order formed by Raiden and the Shaolin. The faction’s primary goal is to prepare themselves for the “Mortal Kombat” tournament. In contrast, the Black Dragon faction is a brutal criminal organisation dealing in assassination, robbery, black market weapons trafficking and more. Opposing them is the Special Forces faction, which uses cutting-edge technology to protect Earthrealm against the Outworld threat.

The trailers follow previous reports that the “Mortal Kombat X” street date has been broken. As gamers have managed to get their hands on the game early, some have confirmed that “MKX” will launch with a 1.8GB day-one patch. The patch is expected to provide gameplay fixes and balancing, bug fixes and improve online stability.

“Mortal Kombat X” is set for release on April 14 on PS4, Xbox One and PC. The Xbox 360 and PS3 release of the game has been pushed back to an unspecified date in the summer.
