Technology company Microsoft will be releasing the full-featured Bing search client for the Android platform. The company said that the release would be the same as the search capabilities it offers for the iPhone.

Microsoft already has a Bing client for Android, however, it is mostly geared toward mapping tasks. The new client will be more similar to the desktop version of Bing.com, which includes features such as full Web, image and news search.

Since the launch of Bing last year, Microsoft claims that its share of the search market has increased by almost 5 percent. Last month, Microsoft Web sites accounted for 12.7 percent of searches. In spite of the growth, Microsoft is still trailing Google, which was responsible for 62.6 percent of searches. Yahoo was a far second, accounting for 18.9 percent of searches.

To further increase market share, Microsoft is adding new features to Bing. The company says that its objective goes beyond simply displaying search results; it also aims to help users complete tasks more quickly. For example, when a search for weather comes up, Bing will show forecasts from several weather sites and display them on a single page.

There have also been improvements in the search client's mapping functions. Users who search for a public place may be able to see the interior layout of a location. Third-party applications such as an app that helps users find the cheapest parking garage when needed will also be made available.

Company executives say that the new features are in line with keeping the search client's growth constant.
