Microsoft to launch Windows 7 handsets
Company to stage event in New York
Microsoft will be releasing a new range of Windows Phone 7 smartphones.
The new mobile operating system is the overhauled version of Microsoft's much-hyped OS. According to a report from the Wall Street Journal, Microsoft will launch the new-line up through an event in New York.
Reports suggests that the handsets will be released through network providers AT&T and T-Mobile in the US. In addition to highlighting the Windows Phone 7 at the New York event, the company may also launch a Windows 7 tablet. AT&T Mobility and Consumer President Ralph De La Vega and Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer is expected to address a press conference for the launch of Windows 7.
AT&T will initially offer three smartphones based on Windows Phone 7 made by Samsung, LG and HTC.
