Manchester City could be on the verge of making a final offer for Harry Kane.

The Tottenham marksman is currently taking the heat amid his controversial no-show in training.

While it is yet to be known when will he make his return, his top suitor Manchester City could be sizing up another huge transfer swoop.

Earlier reports linked Kane to a £100 million ($139 million) move to Manchester City, but a deal never materialized. It is now believed that the Citizens have mooted an improved bid of around £160 million ($222 million) for the striker.

However, according to famed transfer insider Dean Jones, Manchester City is unlikely to come up with the said figure.

Instead, Pep Guardiola’s side might pull off a maximum £140 million ($195 million) offer for Kane.

"I don’t know if he [Kane] will return to training but there will be another bid, whether it’s enough I’m not convinced to be honest,” Jones recently said on The Football Terrace “The problem they’ve got here, and I know we’ve talked about how Financial Fair Play has relaxed and so on, and it helps them do these deals.”

“They can only go so far, they can’t just pay £180 million ($250 million) and keep going--£200 million, £220 million ($278 million to 306 million) - there has still got to be a limit to it,” he continued. “They are still going to answer questions in the future about the financials involved in deals like this. They still have to be careful about how far they can push things”

"If they go and spend £100 million ($139 million) on [Jack] Grealish and go and offer £130 million ($181 million) for Kane, that’s far beyond anything they’ve done on any two players before. To go beyond £130 million I’d be very surprised, to be honest. £140 million maybe, but £160 million I just haven’t seen that coming."

The revamped Spurs squad which will be led by newly appointed manager Nuno Espirito Santo is now prepping for the new season.

Despite the ongoing rumors involving Kane, Espirito Santo remains positive about having the England captain in his team.

“Harry is our player – period,” the manager said. “No need to talk about anything else. Now is the moment for Harry to recover his energy [after Euro 2020]. When he comes back [to training], we will have time to speak. The best is to work with the best players around, and Harry is one of those.”

“I have no doubts in my mind,” he added. “When Harry Kane arrives he will feel that everyone of us has to commit himself to becoming better. We are ambitious people. We want to do it well. And we count on Harry for that.”
