It has been 23 years since pop icon Madonna last visited Australia for "The Girlie Show" in 1993. Now, after nearly a quarter of a century and eight albums later, the material girl is expected to return to the Aussie stage earlier next year, as part of her "Rebel Heart" world tour, which starts this year in August.

Billboard has reported that the "Rebel Heart Tour" will kick off in August this year in Miami, then Madonna will head to UK and Europe at the beginning of November. Billboard has also reported that the tour will then proceed to Asia in early 2016 before heading off to Australia, with additional concert dates to be released by the end of March. The 54-year-old is expected to perform in playing arenas rather than stadiums so that her fans can see her up close and personal for the first time.

The tour will be Madonna’s fifth partnership with Live Nation Worldwide Touring and second under CEO Arthur Fogel. Her previous tours altogether grossed over $5 billion as recorded by Billboard Boxscore, which made her the top female touring artist in the world, according to Billboard.

"Rebel Heart" is the pop sensation’s 13th studio album which includes the lead single "Living for Love" and other tracks such as "Unapologetic Bitch", "Illuminati" and "Bitch I’m Madonna." The album also features collaborators Diplo, Kanye West, Ariel Rechtshaid and Avicii, and guest vocals from Nicki Minaj, Chance the Rapper and boxer Mike Tyson.
