Sony will be bringing back the first-ever PlayStation!

Following Nintendo’s retro console trend, Sony Computer Entertainment has announced that it will be releasing a revamped version of its original PlayStation. The console will be a miniature version of the original one, first released 25 years ago.

Dubbed the PlayStation Classic, it will be 45% smaller that the first-ever rendition of the gaming console. Purists don’t have to worry though, as it will come in the exact original look with the gray finish and gray controllers.

“Long-time fans will appreciate the nostalgia that comes with rediscovering the games they know and love, while gamers who might be new to the platform can enjoy the groundbreaking PlayStation console experience that started it all,” the PlayStation Blog wrote.

Unlike the first-ever PS though, the PlayStation Classic will not be using game disks. Instead, it will come preloaded with 20 classic titles, including favorites Final Fantasy VII, Tekken 3, Wild Arms, Ridge Racer Type 4, and Jumping Fish.

Sony has yet to reveal the complete list of PlayStation Classic games. However, PS fans speculate that top titles like Resident Evil and Crash Bandicoot will make it to the console as well. Other games that could make it to the final 20 include Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Metal Gear Solid, Tomb Raider, and Silent Hill.

“Stay tuned to the Blog for the full lineup of titles coming to PlayStation Classic. There are more fan favorites, and we can’t wait to share more details in the coming months,” PS Blog added.

PlayStation Classic’s price is at $99.99, with a release date set for December 3, 2018. The console is expected to be a hit, so make sure you contact your nearest gaming stores for pre-order details.
