Kingston announced the release of its first USB 3.0 Flash drive, which the company claims to have a data transfer rate that is ten times faster than the current USB specification.

The DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0 is said to clock in at a read speed of 80MB per second and a write speed of 60MB per second. The Flash drive is available in variants of 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. The solution will also come with a Y cable because some USB 2.0 ports require initialization of USB 3.0 drives.

"The DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0 is our first USB 3.0 Flash drive offering and is designed for enthusiasts who like to embrace new technology before it goes mainstream," said Nathan Su, Kingston's Flash Memory Sales Director for the Asia-Pacific region.

The Kingston DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0 can now be purchased for $119 (16GB), $179 (32GB), and $349 (64GB).
