Shark Tank investor Kevin O’Leary has not hidden the fact that he has invested in crypto. However, he recently told CNBC that he does not so carelessly, as he prefers to consult with regulators before making any decisions.

In the past, however, he has had a negative outlook on bitcoin, even calling it “worthless.”

“It is a useless currency,” he said. "To me, it’s garbage, because you can’t get in and out of it in large amounts.”

At the beginning of this year, however, he expressed his respect for cryptocurrency and announced that he will distribute 3% of his portfolio to BTC.

“I have no interest in being a crypto cowboy and getting anybody unhappy with me,” the Canadian businessman said. “I have so many assets in the real world that I’ve invested in already that I have to be compliant.”

He added that his outlook on crypto differs from most, as he views it as “software development.” As such, he explained which blockchain platforms he would invest in, such as Polygon and Solana.

“I need to invest in all of those, not just one of them because I don’t know who the winner’s going to be,” he said.
