Adult Swim posted an update for the much-awaited "Uzumaki" anime based on Junji Ito’s iconic manga.

Hiroshi Nagahama, the director of "Uzumaki" anime, confirmed the delay citing the COVID-19 pandemic as the main reason, which impacted the anime’s production.

“I wanted the fans who have been waiting for Uzumaki to know that I feel truly apologetic for the delay and ask for your patience just a little more,” Nagahama said in the video.

He also mentioned how COVID-19 greatly impacted the production and they had to restructure their plan from the beginning.

Nagahama stated the anime series is coming together and he is ready to share the “tiny bit” of the pilot.

The 35-second teaser from the first episode gives a sneak peek into the cursed town named Kurouzu-cho. The animation looks true to Junji Ito’s original works. Nagahama promised to share more spoiler-free clips from the anime.

"Uzumaki" anime is now scheduled to release in October 2022, Crunchyroll reported.

Fans, wholeheartedly, appreciated the idea of Nagahama and his team taking time to work on the anime and deliver a series, which will be worth the wait.

“Please let the industry be more like this. I'd much rather there be delays so the animators can do a good job without being crunched. Fans can wait especially for good stuff like this!” Twitter user Iprefertoretainmyanonimity tweeted.

Another Twitter user named Kurt mentioned that the teaser has surpassed his expectations.

“Looks even better than I expected! I want to watch it so badly, but it's great that the team is taking their time to make everything perfect. I'll be patiently/eagerly awaiting the new release date, and re-read some Junji Ito in the meantime,” Kurt tweeted.

“Kurouzu-cho, a small fogbound town on the coast of Japan, is cursed. According to Shuichi Saito, the withdrawn boyfriend of teenager Kirie Goshima, their town is haunted not by a person or being but a pattern: UZUMAKI, the spiral—the hypnotic secret shape of the world. The bizarre masterpiece horror manga is now available all in a single volume. Fall into a whirlpool of terror!” read the manga synopsis, as per Viz.

Junji Ito is considered one of the finest horror manga creators from Japan. The Eisner award-winning mangaka is renowned for his works like "Venus in the Blind Spot," "Remina," "No Longer Human," "Gyo," "Tomie," and "Shiver."
