Jarryd Hayne is ready to once again make an impact with the San Francisco 49ers by evolving his NFL game in his sophomore year.

Hayne had a promising start with the 49ers last year, when the Australian rugby league star turned heads during his preseason stint in San Francisco. With the 49ers’ training camp set to start in a few weeks, Hayne will have another chance to improve his game en route to another scintillating preseason outing and eventually more playing time in the regular season.

“I’m taking myself on the craziest adventure that I can,” Hayne told 60 Minutes, reports the Daily Telegraph. “And I want to keep evolving and I want to keep pushing myself, and I don’t ever want to be comfortable, and I don’t ever want to be in a position where I’m just doing it for the sake of doing it.”

Hayne has to impress 49ers new coach Chip Kelly in order to earn a slot in San Francisco’s active roster. There are growing concerns that the 28-year-old Aussie from Minto would have to start anew with Kelly on board, but according to the team’s general manager Trent Baalke, Hayne has a chance to impress the former Philadelphia Eagles coach, who is “excited” to get his hands on the former Eel.

"We haven't spent a ton of time speaking about individual players on a roster yet but I'll tell you he's well aware of Jarryd and Jarryd's story, as is everyone in the National Football League by now,” Baalke told Michael Cammas of the Sydney Morning Herald. "He's excited to get his hands on him, the whole coaching staff is.”

Hayne returns to the United States next week to start training with the 49ers. The Aussie running back enters his second year in the NFL with ample understanding of the game, but whether his gained experience of playing American football would be enough to unlock his full potential remains to be seen.
