Fans are expecting the release of the all new 2018 iPhone 11 range by September. However, according to an analyst the cheapest version of the upcoming Apple phones is behind schedule and could be dropping a month after the set release date.

Since 2012, Apple has scheduled the release of its cult-favorite smartphone every September. This year is no exception as people look forward for the trend to continue with a release set in about two months. However, according to Morgan Stanley’s analyst, Katy Huberty (via Barron’s), one of the three expected iPhones would be skipping the September drop due to issues with one of its parts.

According to Huberty, the 6.1-inch smartphone — which some dub as the iPhone 9 — will be delayed by one month due to “LED backlight leakage.” The replacement for the iPhone 8 will be the only LCD-powered phone of the three new models expected this year. The 5.8-inch and the 6.6-inch have OLED screens.

“We currently see no delay in the ramp of Apple's upcoming flagship 5.8" or 6.5" OLED iPhones. However suspected issues with LED backlight leakage have caused a 1 month delay in mass production of the 6.1" LCD iPhone, although this is down from a 6-week delay baked into the original production forecast, according to suppliers,” she explained.

Should the delay push through, it will be similar to 2017’s iPhone X release when it dropped two months after the iPhone 8 range in September.

In other iPhone 11 news, the new model could have a triple-lens rear camera. According to Taiwanese source, Economic Daily News (via Macrumors), the camera will have a 6P lens design with a 5x zoom capability. The feature will be similar to Huawei’s P20 Pro which also has three lenses. Apple is not expected to comment on the rumors.
