iPad may be available in Target stores
Retailer may start selling the iPad starting October 3
A new report from a popular technology blog suggests that Target stores in the US may start selling the iPad starting October 3. The move, which would expand the retail coverage of the touchscreen tablet from Apple, was reported by Engadget, which quoted a source that said that the retail chain is set to launch an unnamed product on Oct 3.
The product reportedly has the same price points as the iPad, which ranges from $499 for the 16GB model to $829 for the 64GB model. In addition to the prices, pictures from a Target PDA have surfaced which show that the new gadget will go on sale in October and will be located in the store's "Digital Audio" department. Apple's line of iPods and the Amazon Kindle e-reader, are in the same department.
"Smoking gun?... Not exactly, but it's certainly enough to get us to keep our eye on this one," said author Donald Melanson.
Before the iPad was launched earlier this year, executives from Apple indicated that the tablet PC would only be available at a limited number of stores. Tim Cook, Apple's chief operating officer, said that the availability of the device would expand "over time."
