iiNet, the ISP, releases its IPTV product months after an earlier launch date announced by its CEO. Michael Malone was quoted as saying that the service was slated for a March release, adding that preparations had been in the works for several months.

The ISP collaborated with Fetch TV for the service. The IPTV product, which is called fetchtv 2, allows users to stream digital TV, games, music and movies with the use of a broadband connection. The service is also bundled into a set top box that can also function as a personal video recorder. The ISP will offer free-to-air TV alongside a number of pay-to-view channels.

The company is still facing a copyright infringement case brought forth by the Australian Federation Against Copyright Theft (AFACT). Previously, iiNet maintained various delivery models for content meant to lower piracy on the Internet.

AFACT represents a number of Hollywood film studios. The suit alleges iiNet of enabling movie piracy among users on its network. The ISP won the case but AFACT has since made arrangements for an appeal.
