Fruit Ninja, the fruit slicing sim created by Brisbane-based company Halfbrick, has now sold over a million copies on iPhone and iPod Touch. In celebration of the feat, which the company achieved 74 days after the app's April 21 release date, Halfbrick announces that it will release the Fruit Ninja HD for iPad.

The iPad version allows users to compete in simultaneous, split-screen multiplayer mode. And as hinted by the app's title, it also has high-definition graphics. To coincide with the announcement, Halfbrick continued what has now become a tradition of releasing amusing trailers.

The company says that within two days of its launch, Fruit Ninja rose to become one of the top ten paid apps in Australia. It eventually became the number one paid app in seven countries, and has been in the top ten of the paid apps chart in the US for 60 out of the 74 days since its release.
