Manchester United has enjoyed success this season through Paul Pogba’s exploits.

But looking ahead, the 28-year-old’s future is hanging in the balance. His contract runs through the 2022 season, meaning the Red Devils may try to make sure he stays longer at Old Trafford.

The only way Manchester United can heave a sigh of relief is once Pogba signs a new deal.

For now, nothing close to that has happened, making him one of the key players to watch this transfer window.

If he does jump ship, head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may have to look at alternatives.

One player linked to the Red Devils is Jack Grealish. However, the chances of Manchester United landing the Aston Villa captain remain unknown.

For now, there have been no discussions about a potential deal, something that was confirmed by Grealish’s agent Jonathan Barnett via SNTV.

Aside from that, Barnett also stated that the Red Devils are not at the top of the list.

Unless he shows he truly wants to leave Villa Park, Barnett believes his client will remain as a player on the wish list of every team in the English Premier League.

Eyeing him to replace Pogba could make sense although there are things to consider.

Grealish and Pogba are two different players, and the last thing that Solskjaer may want to do is force the 25-year-old footballer to play a position where he is uncomfortable.

Pogba plays deep and can open things up for any team. However, he was also used as a left attacking midfielder, a position where Grealish could fit in.

In all, Pogba is versatile, a reason why he can play other positions.

Regardless, all this should be taken with a grain of salt for now. It all depends on whether Pogba will stay with the Red Devils or walk away at some point--the earliest of which is the next summer transfer window.

But if a move for Grealish does happen, it raises questions on the status of other players on the team. That includes Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial, two players who could be affected if the English winger makes the shock move to Old Trafford.
