Google takes its search engine another step further with Google Instant.

The next time a user in Australia types in a search expression, Google's search engine will display results that may match. It takes the existing search suggestion feature and provides users with instant search results based on the search expressions entered.

According to Google, "Our key technical insight was that people type slowly, but read quickly, typically taking 300 milliseconds between keystrokes, but only 30 milliseconds (a tenth of the time!) to glance at another part of the page. This means that you can scan a results page while you type."

Google Instant even has an autocorrect feature, with suggestions in grey on the search bar.

Google waited a few weeks before launching the feature outside the US, and has announced that on October 8, Instant will be available to users in Australia over the next few days.
