Google Goggles launched on iPhone 4 and 3GS
Service lets users perform searches by simply taking pictures with the Google Mobile iPhone app
Google announced the release of its Goggles service on the iPhone 4 and 3GS. Google Goggles, which became available to Android phone users last December, took almost a year before being launched on the iOS.
The service lets users perform searches by simply taking pictures with the Google Mobile iPhone app. The Google Mobile app is a search application that allows for searches through voice location-based queries.
Users only need to point the phone's camera and press the Google Mobile app's camera icon to get search results on what an object is. The application will analyze an image and provide results based on the massive amounts of image data found on Google's servers.
The company claims that the service works great for logos, landmarks and covers of books, DVD and games. As of the moment, Google Goggles is only enabled for English-speaking users. It also requires cameras with auto-focus capabilities so it is only available on the iPhone 4 and the iPhone 3GS.
