Google Commerce Search released in Australia
Custom e-commerce search solution reaches Australia
Google Commerce Search, which delivers custom searching on e-commerce sites, is now available to online merchants in Australia. Previously only made available to US and UK retailers, the solution makes use of familiar features such as Google Suggest and filtering, similar to that of Google image search.
In an interview with ITWire.com, Will Easton, Google Australia's head of retail, technology and consumer products, says "It's more than 10 years of Google search innovation and R&D, with the power of cloud computing behind it, applied to e-commerce site search."
The company claims that a considerable bulk of online shopping is made through search. Google aims to take advantage of this fact to improve conversion rates.
Google Commerce Search eliminates the need for merchants to install any software. In addition, it prevents delays during seasonal peaks. The solution also allows online retailers to artificially raise the standing of certain products in search results or force items on top of searches for specific keywords.
Google Commerce Search utilizes Google Analytics to track visitor behavior. The price of the solution depends on the number of SKUs in the merchant's catalogue and the number of search queries made per year, however, the price starts at $25,000.
