According to its biannual transparency report, Google claims that, for the past six months, it has increased its compliance with data removal requests from the Australian Government.

The report showed that from January to June this year, the company granted 92.9 per cent of the 200 data and 14 removal requests made by the Federal Government. From July to December 2009, the company only complied with 52.9 per cent of 155 data requests.

Most of the requests received by the company were for the removal of content from Google Groups and web searches. There were 314 requests for Google Groups and 317 items were deleted from web searches.

In its report, the company said that the number of request from the Australian Government are much lower compared to the number of requests from the United States, India, the United Kingdom and Brazil.

The report did not include removal requests for the company's controversial Street View application. Street View was criticized earlier this year after it came out that the service captured WiFi payload data.
