Manchester United has been linked with a fresh move for Tottenham striker Harry Kane as they look to increase their options in the attack.

United has only Anthony Martial, Wayne Rooney and James Wilson available up front and they have struggled to create goals all season. Wayne Rooney has been woefully out of form while James Wilson has not featured in the Premier League all season. Anthony Martial has made a superb start but has been shifted out wide in recent games, with Memphis Depay struggling for form and Ashley Young injured.

Harry Kane had a breakthrough season in the Premier League last year, scoring 31 goals in all competitions for Tottenham. Although he has made a much slower start to the current season, he scored a hat-trick in his last game against Bournemouth.

According to the Sun, manager Louis van Gaal could yet move for the attacker in January and the transfer fee could well be upwards for the £49 million (AU $106 million) Spurs reportedly demanded in the summer.

Meanwhile, United’s long-time rival Liverpool has been linked with a January move for Borussia Dortmund defender Neven Subotic, who has fallen out of favour at the Westfalenstadion under new manager Thomas Tuchel.

Dortmund’s former manager Jurgen Klopp has now moved to Anfield and he would certainly be keen to bring in one of his more loyal players from his old club. Subotic, who had formed a solid partnership with Mat Hummels during Dortmund’s Bundesliga winning seasons in 2013 and 2014, has suffered injuries in recent times and struggled to regain his place in the team.

Respected Bundesliga journalist Raphael Honigstein says a move to Liverpool could certainly be on the cards considering the close relationship between Klopp and Subotic.

"His former CEO and chairman at Dortmund said Klopp wouldn't target any of his players. There is probably a deal to be made with Subotic, who has been out of favour. He is one of the few players who was personally picked by Klopp for Dortmund when he was at Mainz. Most of the players were bought by the club rather than him," Honigstein told The Sport Review.
