Gamers are going to have to clear up precious space on their drives as soon as the PC version of “Final Fantasy XV” hits stores in March. Those looking forward to playing will need at least 100GB of storage.

Developer Square Enix has finally announced more info regarding the PC version of “Final Fantasy XV,” including its release date. Coming on March 6, 2018, “Final Fantasy XV Windows Edition” includes all content from previous releases as well as bonus material and DLCs. A first-person mode will also be added, a curious addition that could prove polarising among gamers.

The PC release supports HDR10 and native 4K resolution at a maximum of 8K. Those who love to tinker with their games will also be delighted to know that mods will be supported.

A word of caution, though. According to Square Enix, 4K specifications require at least 155GB of space. Non-4K gameplay requires at least 100GB.

These numbers are high, but on the bright side, it's not as huge as 170GB, as was previously reported in 2017. Director Hajime Tabata had told Kotaku Australia that the specification “was a mistake.” Speaking through a translator, Tabata said, “That was a communications mistake - something got put in a memo that really shouldn't have. What that is [the specifications that went out to press] based on the specs that we're running the demo on today.”

To see if your PC is up to par with the Windows version of FFXV, a benchmark software will be made available by Square Enix on February 1.

Also included in the announcement is “Final Fantasy XV Royal Edition” for the PS4 and Xbox One. This release includes a new dungeon, additional gear and bosses, the ability to control the Royal Vessel, and more.

“Final Fantasy XV” previously launched in 2016 for the PS4 and Xbox One after years of development. The game tells the story of Prince Noctis and his friends as they embark on a journey to reclaim a lost empire.
