Social networking site Facebook is suing "Teachbook, " a Web site for teachers that has not even been launched yet.

Teachbook is a new website that is designed as a social network for teachers. The start-up is meant to be a platform for teachers to network, share lesson plans and exchange ideas with other teachers.

In a report from CNN Money, the company cited "Federal trademark dilution, trademark infringement and unfair competition," in its lawsuit. The company, which recently announced that it has 500 million users, is currently involved in a number of cases. The company has sued over the word "book," over, over "like" buttons and over streaming feeds.

Greg Shrader, Teachbook's managing partner, said that he applied to Teachbook trademark in 2009. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office was said to have found "no similar marks" on record. Shrader adds that Facebook sued Teachbook before the government could make its final ruling.

The complaint claims that Teachbook has marketed itself as an alternative to the social networking giant. Facebook alleges that a page on Teachbook's site -- which has since been removed -- once read, "Many schools forbid their teachers to maintain Facebook and MySpace accounts ... With Teachbook, you can manage your profile."
