No matter how hard videogame developers and publishers try to keep their projects under wraps, the sheer resourcefulness of data miners in digging out secrets just beggars belief. This is exactly what happened when Electronic Arts inadvertently revealed the release date for "Star Wars: Battlefront."

The good folks at Gamespot stumbled upon text revealing what appears to be the scheduled internal launched date for the game. It was discovered while snooping within the source code of the game's official website. Interestingly, the publisher hasn't officially announced the release date, so this could be considered as a leak of sorts.

"The latest news and updates for Star Wars Battlefront. Available November 17, 2015 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC," read the text within the source code on the "Star Wars: Battlefront" official website. The date seems to be in line with the officially announced holiday 2015 release window. EA, however, has neither officially confirmed nor denied the recently uncovered launch date.

The official website's source code also hides a never seen before image that appears too realistic to be an in-game capture. The photo depicts a setting that seems to resemble the footage contained in a "Star Wars: Battlefront" teaser trailer revealed earlier. The image shows a stormtrooper riding a speeder bike through the heavily forested moons of Endor.

Eurogamer reports that this leak comes right after EA teased fans with approximately ten seconds of "Star Wars: Battlefront" gameplay. The gameplay footage was included in the trailer for the highly anticipated "Star Wars: Episode 7" film. The "Battlefront" footage can be seen at the 1:48 minute mark of the video embedded below.

Although the gameplay footage looks too gorgeous to be actual in-game rendered content, Dennis Brannvall, the Lead Designer of "Star Wars: Battlefront," assures that the footage isn't just a pre-rendered CGI cutscene. The developer made this assurance through a Twitter post when gamers confused the impressive in-game graphics with a CGI cutscene.

The much hyped "Star Wars: Battlefront" is the 2015 reboot of Lucas Arts' long running series by the same name that spawned five games over the years between three different developers. The reboot is a result of the take "Star Wars" franchise takeover by Disney, which handed over the reins to Electronic Arts for the videogame spinoff. Fans have been describing the reboot as "Battlefield" in "Star Wars" skin because the development is being handled by DICE, which is best known for making "Battlefield" games.
