Authorities confirmed Wednesday that a body was found in Lake Mead in an area near where a woman recently went missing after falling off a jet ski. Lake Mead is located in Arizona and Nevada.

A 22-year-old woman, identified as “Lily,” went missing Thursday around 6:15 a.m. after a call about two people not wearing life jackets had fallen off a jet ski. The other jet skier was rescued.

The body was discovered near the Boulder Islands on Tuesday by National Park Service rangers and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department near where they fell off, but the identity has not yet been confirmed.

“While there were initial reports this weekend regarding the name of a female who drowned at the lake last week, Lake Mead NRA cannot confirm this victim’s identification at this time until medical experts arrive to provide assistance to the scene,” officials said in an email Wednesday.

The Clark County Medical Examiner will determine the identity of the body and the cause of death. Authorities will continue to investigate the incident.

Photos of Lily were released as part of rescue efforts. She was described as having long brown hair that was dyed red, around 5-foot-2 in height and between 110 to 120 pounds.

There have been reports of several bodies washing up in Lake Mead this year. It is suspected they may be washing up ashore due to the lake’s water levels drastically lowering.

Last month, the LVMPD said that a metal barrel found on Lake Mead's shore contained the remains of a man who was believed to have been killed in the late 1970s or early 1980s.
