Dance act “Boyband” showed up at “Britain’s Got Talent” Saturday night as a group of amateurs who danced for fun, but was later found out to be professionals who even previously auditioned in a rival show. The lads left the BGT panelists and hosts in awe after their outstanding performance, which was ultimately awarded with the Golden Buzzer.

The five-piece from London, comprised of Corey Culverwell, 18, Dylan Mayoral, 18, Jaih Betote, 17, Mike Ureta 19 and Mike McNeish, 18, made the audience believe that they were just average lads who come together once in a while to dance for fun. “We just rehearse anywhere we can, in streets and car parks. We sometimes get into trouble from security who think we are busking,” Culverwell said, as quoted by The Daily Star.

The group proceeded to take the stage and performed a groundbreaking hip-hop and breakdance routine, which stunned the audience and was awarded with a standing ovation from the judges Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and David Walliams. Even hosts Ant and Dec ran to hit the Golden Buzzer, which will send the boys flying to the live shows.

However, Boyband appeared to have underplayed their experience. Eagle-eyed viewers recognized them as finalists to rival show Sky 1’s “Got to Dance” last year and that they have been trained by GTD panelist and hip-hop sensation Ashley Banjo. Moreover, they have even performed for the Queen Elizabeth Hall and one of the members has reportedly worked with dance group and previous BGT winner “Flawless.” Surprisingly, they allegedly also have strong links to the Britain talent show. What transpired is that the boys were actually seasoned performers who have been together for two years.

While some argue that the group should be eliminated from the show, a BGT spokesperson said that the talent show was open to anyone, whether they were amateur or professional. He added that there have been previous acts that have appeared in other shows before coming to BGT and that there were no rules that stated that being seasoned performers would prevent them from applying.

Boyband or its representatives have not made a statement yet on the said issue. The boys’ performance however really stood out Saturday night. Simon Cowell, who was initially unimpressed when the lads came in, told them that he has seen the future with their performance, while Alesha Dixon thought were “sensational.” Amanda Holden was so impressed that she told the London lads they were “definitely something we’re looking for on this show” and David Walliams added that their performance was “flawless,” Mirror reported.
