Anheuser-Busch is releasing “Bud Light Next,” a new version of its Bud Light that will be the companies first-ever beer to contain zero carbohydrates.

Bud Light Next will be available nationwide starting on Feb. 7. It is being marketed towards the next generation of beer drinkers that have proved to be interested in lighter alcoholic drinks like hard seltzers.

“As Bud Light enters 2022, we are pushing the beer category to new heights with the launch of Bud Light NEXT, our first-ever zero carb beer,” said Andy Goeler the Vice President of Marketing of Bud Light in a press release.

“Today’s consumers are all about breaking barriers, being trailblazers and setting their own path. We are proud to introduce this new super crisp beer which is brewed to meet their evolving taste preferences; it’s a truly symbolic innovation that celebrates the barrier breakers who like us embrace possibility,” he added.

Anheuser-Busch says that when creating Bud Light Next the goal was to still give consumers the enjoyment of drinking a “long desired beer,” but now with the “sessionability and stats of a seltzer.”

The carb-less beer will only be 80 calories and have a 4% alcohol by volume, which is 30 calories less and only a 1% difference in alcohol than regular Bud Light beer. Prices for the new beer will also be slightly higher.

The Bud Light Next launch will come about a week before the Super Bowl, where beer is massively consumed at Super Bowl parties everywhere. Anheuser-Busch plans on introducing the launch of the new beer in a Super Bowl ad that will "demonstrate what's possible when there's zero in the way,” according to CNN.
