The ongoing issues between All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF) all started when the latter announced that he was going to be a free agent on January 1, 2024, and Booker T fully believes it is a "work."

On the latest episode of the Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T explained that the mindset of a pro-wrestler is that most of the things they see and hear around the scene are a "work," meaning that it is a pre-scripted event that was approved by people backstage.

“Most wrestlers think everything is a work. And I’m going to tell you right now, I wouldn’t doubt it if it is work. If I had a kid like MJF, and I knew I was going to be locking this kid in… I think I would tell him to just keep talking. Just do what you do, whatever you want to do” said the WWE Hall of Famer.

Booker T even cited an incident where MJF took shots at AEW president and CEO Tony Khan during an in-ring segment with Wardlow.

Forging an illustrious career that spanned almost 30 years and multiple title reigns in different promotions, Booker T has never been afraid to show appreciation for some of the brightest stars in pro-wrestling today.

However, being an on-screen performer and understanding the pro-wrestling business as a whole are two different things and Booker T believes that MJF is cognizant of that fact.

“That right there is what real true wrestlers really do, that suspends your imagination. That’s sports entertainment. They still make you believe everything that they’ve got going on. Most people don’t get that, a lot of guys don’t get that. But, he’s one that understands, and picks it up,” he noted.

MJF previously hinted that he was going to leave AEW once his contract expires on New Year’s Day in two years’ time, something that apparently and understandably brought heat upon himself behind the scenes.

For most pro-wrestling fans, just the image of MJF taking potshots at the industry and his current employer is enough to tickle the imagination of him moving to a rival company known for not entirely acknowledging their competitors on live TV.

If MJF’s words do have some truth in them, Booker T is more than open to the idea of having one of the best heel talents in the industry today potentially performing at a grand event like WrestleMania.

“I can only imagine MJF, and the feeling he would have at WrestleMania. That’s the pinnacle of most kids wanting to be wrestlers. To get on that stage in front of 100,000 people that’s the stage that MJF definitely wants to have a feather in his cap. I could be wrong on that, but I think that’s why you get in the game,” he stated.

Only time will tell whether the top-tier on-the-mic performers will truly make the move to Vince McMahon’s promotion.
