FC Barcelona have reportedly reached an agreement to sign Wolves forward Adama Traore on loan ahead of the deadline day (Jan. 31).

Traore is expected to be at Barcelona for his medicals Friday, reported The Athletic.

Barcelona are going to sign Traore on a loan deal for the rest of the 2021-22 season, but it also includes an option to buy him at $33 million, according to The Guardian. Since Traore's contract with Wolves is until 2023, the Premier League side is in a better position to negotiate for a transfer fee.

In the ongoing January transfer window, Traore had been a top target of Antoine Conte at Tottenham. Instead, the 26-year-old winger is now set for a Camp Nou return, where he had started his professional soccer career. Traore is a product of Barcelona's La Masia academy.

Traore represented Barcelona's "B" team for two full seasons, while he also played four competitive games for the senior team before moving to the Premier League in the summer of 2015. Aston Villa signed Traore on a five-year deal. The Spanish winger then moved to Middlesbrough, where he spent two seasons.

Traore switched from Middlesbrough to Wolves in the summer of 2018. He now is into his fourth season at the Molineux Stadium.

Traore is being considered as a replacement for Ousmane Dembele, whose contract with Barcelona is due to expire in the 2022 summer and the Frenchman has not agreed to an extension yet.

Dembele is open to an exit from Barcelona but finding a new club before the winter market closes next week looks difficult at present, according to Barca Blaugranes.

Traore is not having the best of seasons as he has managed just one goal in as many as 23 appearances for Wolves, across all competitions. With 34 points in 21 games, the West Midlands club is placed eighth in the 2021-22 Premier League table.

Overall, Traore has scored 11 goals and 18 assists in 155 competitive appearances for Wolves.
