Avaya unveils videoconferencing software, tablet
The New Jersey company released on Thursday the Android-supported Avaya Flare Experience that allows for real-time videoconferencing with the additional instant messenging, social networking and texting functionalities.
Also unveiled on Thursday is the Avaya Desktop Video Device, a tablet where the Flare Experience works.
The Avaya Experience can drag and drop voice and video calling and conferencing and allows users to separate from a call to engage in side conversations either through voice, email or IM - without interrupting the original call. It also allows users to scan their corporate and personal lists of contacts, including those from social networks, and engage those who are available to communicate in any mode.
The video device, on the other hand, features an 11.6-inch HD touchscreen with video and audio capabilities, a 720-pixel HD camera, built-in dual microphonesand an unspecified number of USB ports. The device supports SIP and Wi-Fi.
Avaya also plans to make a Flare Experience version for PCs, laptops, tablet PCs and smartphones.
